Charitable IRA Donations
The Pension Protection Act of 2006 allows those 70˝ or older to make distributions of up to $100,000 a year directly from their IRAs to one or more charities without the distributions being included in taxable income or subject to other penalties/withholding. The new “IRA charitable rollover” will be allowed in 2006 and 2007 only, and must be made from a traditional or Roth IRA and not from any other type of retirement plan.
